If you've ever drooled over the Macbook Air but really didn't want to sacrifice your Windows operating environment, the Acer Aspire S3951 is your dream machine!
It's 13mm ultra-slim design weighs less than 1.4kg and is constructed with a full Aluminum/ Mg-Al frame, making it robust and oh so sexy! But it doesn't sacrifice any of the performance you demand of your notebook computer. It's got Intel Core i3, i5, and i7 processors, 4GB of RAM, and depending on the model you choose has either a conventional 320GB SATA hard disk drive or a phenomenally fast 256GB solid state drive.
Again, depending on the model you choose you get either Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Professional. Really the only sacrifice is the fact that the unit doesn't have an optical drive (DVD or CD), although of course you can still plug in an external unit via a USB port - though how often do you actually use your DVD drive anyway?
The cream of the crop is clearly the model with solid state drive. Using this technology, the battery will stretch to 7 hours, and your applications will all benefit from the lightning fast access. It's also lighter. But the model with a traditional hard drive still offers very respectable performance.
A final note - if you want to connect an external monitor, keep in mind that this unit only has an HDMI output so you may need to get an adapter or a monitor which support HDMI natively.
